Lapis is a metamorphic stone composed mainly of lazurite usually with pyrite, calcite and/or sodalite. It has been mined in Afghanistan for over 6000 years. A highly sought after stone used in Ancient Egypt for Pharaoh burial masks, jewellery, amulets and ceremonial items. Also used in ancient Greece and Mesopotamia and in renaissance Europe by artists who valued the pigment from the ground stone.
 
Lapis is often used in meditation for wisdom, inner truth and spiritual insight and as an aid for past life and ancestral work.
